Ce mois d’octobre, je me suis laiss\u00e9 porter par mes racines familiales et j’ai entrepris un petit voyage en Sil\u00e9sie, la r\u00e9gion d’origine de ma famille maternelle, en passant par Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b.<\/p>\n\n

Tout a commenc\u00e9 lorsque j’ai r\u00e9alis\u00e9 l’ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re que je voulais & devais voyager \u00e0 nouveau en tant qu’adulte dans le pays d’origine de la famille de ma m\u00e8re. Contrairement \u00e0 de nombreuses personnes en Allemagne dont le p\u00e8re ou la m\u00e8re ont \u00e9t\u00e9 expuls\u00e9s, j’ai eu la chance de conna\u00eetre le pays d’origine de ma m\u00e8re alors que j’\u00e9tais encore enfant. Cela \u00e9tait li\u00e9 \u00e0 la situation particuli\u00e8re de ma famille apr\u00e8s la guerre. Comme la r\u00e9gion industrielle de Haute-Sil\u00e9sie \u00e9tait proche de la fronti\u00e8re avec la Pologne, on savait aussi parler polonais et on a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d’y rester apr\u00e8s la guerre, malgr\u00e9 les nombreuses repr\u00e9sailles. Ce n’est qu’apr\u00e8s avoir pass\u00e9 le baccalaur\u00e9at polonais, par exemple, que ma m\u00e8re s’est install\u00e9e \u00e0 l’Ouest. D’autres parents ne l’ont fait qu’au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 70. Ma m\u00e8re parlait parfaitement le polonais et avait de nombreux contacts personnels dans sa jeunesse. C’est ainsi que mes parents se rendaient souvent en Pologne communiste, en passant par la RDA encore plus communiste, en donnant \u00e0 mon p\u00e8re des sourds-muets, en collectionnant des \u0153uvres d’art de peintres polonais et bien d’autres objets pr\u00e9cieux que les douaniers, form\u00e9s au mat\u00e9rialisme de la p\u00e9nurie r\u00e9elle, ne consid\u00e9raient pas comme pr\u00e9cieux. <\/p>\n\n

J’ai donc \u00e9t\u00e9 laiss\u00e9 plus longtemps chez les parents d’un ami d’enfance de ma m\u00e8re, dans une petite ferme de Haute-Sil\u00e9sie o\u00f9 l’on faisait pratiquement tout soi-m\u00eame. Je me souviens encore de la baratte \u00e0 beurre, de l’abattage des cochons, des vaches gigantesques que je trayais \u00e0 la main, des dindes \u00e0 l’hyst\u00e9rie terrifiante, sans oublier les \u00e9tangs d’une profondeur inqui\u00e9tante derri\u00e8re la maison, cr\u00e9\u00e9s par l’effondrement de galeries de charbon.<\/p>\n\n

Lorsque j’ai parl\u00e9 de l’intention de mon voyage, la r\u00e9action a \u00e9t\u00e9 la m\u00eame partout en Allemagne : tout le monde avait de la famille dans les anciennes r\u00e9gions de l’Est : que ce soit la Prusse orientale, la Sil\u00e9sie, les Sud\u00e8tes ou d’autres r\u00e9gions. Tout le monde m’a encourag\u00e9 \u00e0 faire le voyage et chacun a admis qu’il n’\u00e9tait jamais all\u00e9 dans le pays d’origine de sa famille. M\u00eame si je ne connais pas toutes les histoires individuelles : Je comprends tr\u00e8s bien. Le traumatisme souvent inexprim\u00e9 de la patrie perdue, les nombreuses souffrances qui y sont li\u00e9es, tout cela n’a jamais invit\u00e9 \u00e0 s’y confronter \u00e0 nouveau. Au lieu de cela, les jeunes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations ont souvent abandonn\u00e9 leurs tentatives d’obtenir des informations de la part de leurs a\u00een\u00e9s sur leur patrie inconnue \u00e0 l’Est. Beaucoup trop de personnes sont d\u00e9j\u00e0 mortes en enfermant dans leur \u00e2me tout ce qui \u00e9tait li\u00e9 \u00e0 leur jeunesse et en faisant comme si tout cela \u00e9tait irr\u00e9m\u00e9diablement termin\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n

Plus j’avan\u00e7ais vers l’est, plus je me rendais compte que ce n’\u00e9tait pas vrai.<\/p>\n\n
